Through a contract with the Navy, FE Associates is developing MetaFEM, a technology that automatically converts legacy finite element databases in their entirety into alternate formats and enables the user to automatically migrate finite element data from one OEM FEA preprocessor environment to another. The technology preserves and automatically transforms geometrically-bound data such as coordinate systems, groups, mesh seeds, loads, boundary conditions, and anisotropic material properties. Potential applications include all government and industrial FEM users considering transition from one FEM system to another.
